You should determine the type of playlist you want them to play, the music style you want your guests to enjoy, the duration of their performance, and whether they will offer both DJ and MC services. They should have a website or social media profile showcasing reviews of their past work. Ensure the DJ has experience with your genre of event and is familiar with the necessary DJ equipment. Additionally, their website should feature DJ reviews. ![Two young men dancing on party](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/hubfs/Two%20young%20men%20dancing%20on%20party.jpeg "Two young men dancing on party")  Choose Your Preferred Music Genre First When hiring the ideal DJ, there are numerous aspects to consider. You must choose the type of music you want them to play, the genre your guests will enjoy dancing to, the duration of their performance, and whether they will offer both DJ and MC services. Your DJ should have a website or social media profile displaying reviews of their previous work. Additionally, ensure the DJ has substantial experience and is knowledgeable about the necessary sound equipment, with reviews available on their site.  Are you planning a themed wedding? Inform your DJ in advance if your theme is important. Many DJs are open to adopting different roles, like retro, vintage, or steampunk, and can play music from a specific era or songs that align with your theme. DJ or Band? When planning your event and considering musicians to entertain your guests, you'll likely be choosing between two options: live band music or DJ music. Bands tend to be more budget-friendly as they typically include only a guitarist, a drummer, and a lead vocalist. It's crucial to audition the band, and most professional groups will offer a video of their performance for you to evaluate. A professional wedding DJ requires additional equipment such as microphones and amplifiers. A skilled DJ can transform your event into a lively cocktail party, ensuring your guests feel at ease and enjoy themselves on the dance floor by playing songs from the genres or list you provide and accommodating requests. *Want to discuss an upcoming event?* [Book a meeting](mailto:info@europaconventioncentre.com) with one of our highly experienced Event Coordinators, [email](mailto:info@europaconventioncentre.com) us or give us a shout at 416-534-5520. - [![31DF26C0-7824-4338-BAF9-30CE34CE12D7](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/IMAGES/Both%20Locations/31DF26C0-7824-4338-BAF9-30CE34CE12D7.jpg?width=4284&height=5712&name=31DF26C0-7824-4338-BAF9-30CE34CE12D7.jpg)](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/) - [![IMG_9070](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/IMAGES/Both%20Locations/IMG_9070.jpg?width=5184&height=3456&name=IMG_9070.jpg)](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/) - [![3D06543A-31AA-4385-877C-D5960BECA144](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/IMAGES/Both%20Locations/3D06543A-31AA-4385-877C-D5960BECA144.jpg?width=3024&height=4032&name=3D06543A-31AA-4385-877C-D5960BECA144.jpg)](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/) - [![23754A66-B074-4068-B7B2-0A0FBA19159F](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/IMAGES/Both%20Locations/23754A66-B074-4068-B7B2-0A0FBA19159F.jpg?width=4032&height=3024&name=23754A66-B074-4068-B7B2-0A0FBA19159F.jpg)](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/) - [![_MG_7506](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/IMAGES/Both%20Locations/_MG_7506.jpg?width=1500&height=1008&name=_MG_7506.jpg)](https://europaconventioncentre.ca/) **Don't miss a single post!** Subscribe to our email newsletter to get the latest content straight in your inbox.  Upcoming Events.  Recipes.  Food prep and hosting tips.
